DescriptionPleasant Places offers, home from home, comfortable and cosy accommodation in a quiet setting, overlooking the Lions River and picturesque farming and forest scenes. The peace and tranquility on the farm make for an ideal place of retreat and drawing aside from daily life.
The patio is a favourite place to enjoy the rambling garden and the magnificent view. In winter and on misty summer evenings, log fires warm the lounge and dining room.
ACCOMMODATION:Our thatched country home offers four double rooms with en-suite bathrooms, and a cottage with two double bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. We are ideally suited for small tour groups visiting the Berg and the Midlands Meander. All rooms have tea and coffee-making facilities, heaters, TV and a hair drier. Other services offered include laundry, telephone, fax, email and computer.
Pleasant Places offers 4 bedrooms and a family unit to accommodate guests:
Number 7. This bedroom has superb views across the valley and Lions River, to pastures beyond. This is the 7th bedroom built at Pleasant Places. John and Linda lived at no.7 in Johannesburg and their original street number is on the door.
The Room with a View. It has a magnificent view of our pastures, trout dam, the Lions River and neighbouring farms.
The Rose Room. Formerly the Tartan Room, which has recently had a complete make-over. An exceptionally quiet room, with a window onto the garden ... close enough to the main house to get a whiff of bacon cooking in the morning!
The Camelia Room: Named after the beautiful Camelia bushes outside the entrance. It has large bay windows at which one can sit, relax and enjoy the beauty of the garden.
The Family Unit: Two bedroomed unit; one bathroom has a shower, the other has a shower and bath. The unit overlooks the rambling gardens below the main house. The Family Unit does not have self-catering facilities.
AttractionsThere are plenty of walks on and around our farm. A favourite one is through the Bluegum forest, down to the picturesque dam and on to the river shaded by Pine forest. The farm and surrounding area is a bird watcher's paradise. You can try your hand at trout fishing in our dam. Local wildlife includes Cape Otters living in the river and buck that make their appearance. Other things to do in the area include swimming in the river, tubing down the six rapids, mountain biking and horse riding.
Golfers can arrange a game at the Sakabula Club in Howick, or at the nearby Bosch Hoek Estate Golf Club, one of the prettiest golf courses in the country.
And of course, there is the Midlands Meander. Our guesthouse is ideally situated in the heart of this famous arts and craft route, which could keep you busy for days!
