Mountain Splendour camping and caravanning resort is located in the spectacular Champagne Valley, Central Drakensberg. It is a family owned and operated resort situated on a farm with dramatic views directly facing the towering peaks of Champagne Castle, Cathkin Peak and Sterkhorn. These mountains are located in the Monks Cowl Reserve that forms part of the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park, a World Heritage Site.

We pride ourselves in providing top quality, personalized service at affordable rates, making Mountain Splendour your ideal family holiday destination.

We were recently awarded a 4-star grading by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa which is considered 'Excellent'. Currently, there are only five 5-star or 'Exceptional' camping/caravan resorts in South Africa and we are certainly striving to be accredited into that elite category! Furthemore, we are AA Quality assured.

We cater for all our guests needs by providing spotless communal and private ablutions with constant hot water, spacious, well-shaded sites, each with their own plug point and braai.

Mountain Splendour boasts magnificent views, an abundance of facilities, offers a safe, healthy and tranquil farm style environment, making it your number one holiday destination!

Resort facilities also include a swimming pool, 2 tennis courts, volleyball courts, large children's playground, animal farm, darts, table tennis and picnic spots.

The immediate area offers excellent outdoor activities such as mountain biking, hiking, white water rafting, fishing, quad biking and horse riding. There are two golf courses next door to Mountain Splendour; the 18-hole Championship course at Champagne Sports Resort and the family orientated 9-hole golf course at Monks Cowl Country Club.

Other local amenities include restaurants, supermarkets, an arts and crafts route and the Drakensberg Boys Choir School where regular concerts and festivals are held. Winterton, a quaint village 25km away, caters for all your basic needs and also boasts an extremely interesting and informative Museum. Within an hours drive are game reserves, historical battlefields, the Midlands Meander and good trout fishing areas.
