Pumalanga Nature Reserve is situated on the brink of Maputoland in the southern foothills of the Lebombo mountain range, bordering the well-known Mkuzi Game Reserve in the north and the Phinda Reserve in the south. We are part of the Great St. Lucia Maputoland Biosphere of which the Greater St. Lucia wetlands has been declared a world heritage site.

All within an hour's drive from Pumalanga are the famous Zululand reserves - Umfolozi, Hluhluwe, Mkuze or the resorts of the unique St. Lucia lake system and the famous diving mecca, Sodwana Bay. Pumalanga consists of a total land area of over 7 000 acres, has been in one family for three generations.

The reserve consists of different eco-systems combining the higher open grassland, the lower thornveld and the riverine forest all on one property.Excellent game and bird sightings are experienced during walks on our scenic walking trails.

During your stay you may encounter anything from the majestic Elephant to the petite Livingstone antelope. This Region in South Africa is renowned for the diversity of bird life and is therefore ideal for the ardent bird watcher to visit.
